2023 is just around the corner (crazy, right?), and it’s time to start getting excited for a new year of weddings and trends. Check out our 2023 wedding trend predictions!

Small-Scale Weddings

Mini-monies, elopements, and altogether smaller weddings are already making waves in the post-pandemic world. Guest counts are dropping, and sub-100 guest counts are becoming the norm. More couples are opting for courthouse ceremonies followed by a party with friends, or an elopement against a stunning ivy wall followed by brunch. It’s okay to just invite your closest friends and family – your wedding day can be whatever you want it to be!

Luckily, BRIK is perfect for smaller events. With our lounge sets, ceremony backdrops, and all in-house tables & chairs included in your venue rental, it’s easy to create a comfortable and laid-back space for your guests that doesn’t feel empty.

I Like Your Style

Wedding fashion is changing. Gone is the more traditional wedding gown, replaced by slinky silk, high thigh slits, bridal suits, and bows and pearls galore. So long, traditional tux – you’re being replaced by colorful suits and super-personalized accessories.

Wear your Doc Martens or Nikes, wear your favorite jacket over your dress or throw on your weirdest socks with your dress shoes. With a rise in elopements, mini-monies, and courthouse shindigs, we’re also seeing a rise in sweet, short bridal looks and more casual groom ‘fits, too.

Couples are no longer shying away from color, textures, and styles that would have shocked your grandma ten years ago. Don’t be shy to let your personal style shine through on your wedding day!

Candid Photography

In the past, “blurry” wedding photos would have caused a crying fit. Now, they’re all the rage! A more casual style has been making its way into wedding photography over the last few years. Couples are starting to care more about candid images from their wedding day that capture action and emotion instead of traditional, posed portraits. This style is often called “editorial,” and makes your wedding gallery look like it belongs between the pages of Vogue.

Another popular photography trend leading into the new year – which often goes hand in hand with the motion blue trend – is direct flash photography. These more spontaneous, paparazzi-style photography captures an effortlessly cool vibe.

Alternative Entertainment

A great dance party can be a huge part of what makes your wedding memorable. However, couples seem to be moving away from a traditional DJ set and towards new forms of entertainment. Set up an arcade or carnival rides, bring in dueling pianos, or even a silent disco!

Consider adding some spice to your cocktail hour with a string quartet, mariachi band, interactive cocktail or snow cone cart, performers/entertainers, a cigar rolling bar, or rent a bounce house or lawn games.

Not ready to forgo a DJ at your reception? Ask potential DJs about including lighting options, cryo guns, smoke machines, neon, and more for your wedding day.

Color & Whimsy

While we love a good, classic black and white wedding color palette, we are so excited to see bright colors making their way back into wedding design! With colorful and unique florals both hanging and as ground arrangements, fresh fruits as decor on reception tables, unexpected color palettes, and vintage details and rentals, there are many ways to make your wedding reception more personalized.

This also applies to bridesmaid dresses – expect more mismatched bridesmaids moments in the years to come!
