The question has been popped, you said yes, and it’s time to start wedding planning! Before you can book floral, photographer, videographer, catering, or any other vendors, you need a venue! We know a thing or two about venue tours, so let us help you! With our 5 wedding venue tour tips, you’ll be walking down the aisle in the perfect venue in no time!

  1. Know your budget!
Have an idea of how much you want to spend on your wedding venue. Some venues are all-inclusive while others offer just the space. Consider if you’d prefer a venue that is open-vendor (you get to choose your vendors) or if you’d like a venue that includes those vendors for you.

A great way to start your wedding budget is to make a list of vendors in the order of what is most important to you – Venue, photographer, florist? – then allocate the most funds to the things you feel are the most important for your wedding day.
  2. Take Notes!
You’ll receive a lot of information during your tour! On a day with multiple venue tours lined up, it’s hard to keep up with the barrage of information. Bring a pen and small notebook. Many venues will give you a tour packet where you can take notes, but it’s good to have a backup notebook just in case!
  3. Ask About Inclusions and Restrictions!
When you envision your wedding day, do you want a sparkler exit? An indoor wall of greenery? A confetti drop? A neon sign? Ask your tour guide about the rules and regulations around decor and exit props. More important questions to ask include cancellation & refund policy, and how many hours you get in the venue!
  4. Crunch the Numbers!
It’s very helpful to know your projected guest count when you are touring venues. Will the space be too cramped for your guest count? Will it look too empty? Ask about minimum and maximum head counts and what looks good in the space.
  5. Check social media!
Stalk the social media accounts of the venues you like. When you go in for a tour, it makes it much easier to envision what the space will look like decorated.
