Getting married on a Saturday might be traditional, but Saturdays aren’t your only choice!  More and more couples are choosing to get married on a Friday or Sunday, and the celebration is just as fun.  Of course, this change in day means you’ll have to get a little creative and think outside the box, but it’s completely worth it.

AVAILABILITY

So you’ve found the venue of your dreams, but every single Saturday is booked for the next year!  Ask about their Friday or Sunday availability. Moving your focus from a Saturday to a Friday or Sunday will open up so many more dates to choose from, and you’ll be able to have your dream venue AND more than likely at a discounted price! More and more couples are choosing this option, and dates are filling up fast!

PRICE

Saturday weddings are popular, and come at a premium price, but choosing a Friday or Sunday option typically comes with a discounted price for all the same amenities. Choosing this option will free up some money in the budget to spend on other things, such as floral, photography, videography, photo booth, etc.  At BRIK, it is about 20% less than booking on a Saturday, which helps with the budget! We’ve had several BRIK couples choose a Friday or Sunday option – check out the photos in this post!

VENDORS

Since weddings typically book on Saturdays, your favorite vendors might also be booked for those Saturdays, which leaves you searching for alternatives to what you wanted.  By having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday, you have a greater chance to book your preferred vendors for your big day. There will be a higher number of vendors available for a Friday or Sunday wedding, and sometimes at a cheaper rate. And after talking with several vendors, they love Friday and Sunday weddings as much as we do! Reach out to them and see what they can do for you! You will be pleasantly surprised!

GUESTS

Don’t assume your guests won’t come if your wedding is on a Friday or Sunday!  By having your wedding on a Friday, you can extend the celebrations all weekend with your friends and family. The rehearsal dinner could be on Thursday night, and you could host a friends and family brunch that Saturday morning after the wedding and enjoy spending time with them before you leave for your honeymoon.  And don’t worry that your guest count might be low – often guests coming in from out of town will be there by Friday anyway, and your local guests will come after work on Friday. Just be sure to start the festivities a little later in the evening so all your guests can celebrate with you.

By having a Sunday wedding, it gives you the weekend to hang out with your friends and family before your big day.  You will get the whole weekend to celebrate you and the love of your life with all the people you love! You’ll get to spend more time with your family and any guests that came from out of town.  A Sunday wedding is also a good time to rethink the traditional evening ceremony. The rehearsal dinner could be on Saturday night, and most of your out of town guests could attend. You could have a mid-morning wedding with a brunch reception, and your guests could still make it home for work the next day.

So as you start planning and looking at venues and vendors, consider a Friday or Sunday option – the day will still be gorgeous, the guests will still come celebrate, and in the end – you’ll be MARRIED!
